With "A Day No How" Portland, Oregon duo Wishyunu has created a
unique and intriguing collection of outsider electronic music.
Wishyunu, like some spaced-out trip down a moon river of kraut rock
and jazz, is onto a sound that's not only unique to the diverse fabric
of Portland music, but to indie rock as a whole. What Wishyunu does so
well is to create intimate spaces within the textures of electronic
keys, loopstations and tight syncopated drumming. This husband and wife
tandem has taken the intimacy of their personal relationship and
translated it to their music. Listening to the music of Wishyunu is
like taking a peek inside the private moments of a couple's life.
Housefire was started back in the spring of 2008. Based out
of Portland, OR, the band blends ambient electronics with classic indie
rock tones to form and atmospheric soundscape, layered with expressive
vocals and thoughtful lyrics. Both eerie and emotive, their music has
garnered them attention from the Willamette Week, The Deli Magazine and
Silver Speakers Blog. Housfire is currently set to embark upon their
first West coast tour July 1 with recent Stereogum pick Secret Cities.
They have previously played with bands like the Mint Chicks, Rainbow Arabia and Morning Teleportation.
